In 1969, Glenda Marie Sirmans, a 13-year-old girl from Farragut, Tennessee, disappeared while on her way to a friend’s house to work on a school project. Despite a large search, she was not immediately found. However, after a dog brought home a shoe containing remains, her body, nude and maimed, was discovered on a wooded hillside about eight miles from her home. Her throat was cut, and she had an additional stab wound to the neck. It is believed that Glenda fought back against her killer.
While there is no named suspect, a man who attended the same church as Glenda was reportedly at the top of the police’s list of persons of interest, though he died before any concrete evidence could be obtained. The case remains unsolved, but it is important to continue the search for new leads and evidence in order to bring justice and closure to Glenda’s family and community.
